A Word on Communities

Filed under: — Elissa Smith @ 9:35 pm

Good News!
I feel as though I have 2 families. My experience at Twin Oaks during the winter holidays was filled with joy, friendship, singing, dancing, swinging, saunas, asanas and great food. I experienced T.O. as a guest as opposed to a resident and I realize that living at T.O. would be a lot of work, but, I’ve decided to live at T.O. in the future. After a workshop at Twin Oaks I’ve been getting really interested in holotropic breathing techniques for personal healing purposes.

That’s one big decision out of the way. I’ve always known that I’ve wanted to bring my child(ren) up in a community. I’m not sure that Twin Oaks is the place to do it (they have rules about the ratio of children to adults). My good friend Tamara has plans of starting a community in the Ottawa region or the Queen Charlotte Islands in B.C. If you’re interested drop us a line. I’m planning to work at the Algonquin Tea Company during the summer, a bunch of my friends from Guelph are going to get some experience living in a shared community. We’ll gain knowledge about indigenous plants, organic agriculture and valuable wilderness skills.
